We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy, registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, reference ZA098224.

This policy covers information collected through this website. If your enquiry leads to you becoming a client, we'll handle your information from that point under the privacy terms in your engagement letter instead. 

What information we collect, and is it required? 

  1. Contact details submitted via our contact form or by email — name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message 

  2. Your email address and name, if you sign up to our newsletter 

  3. Technical information about your visit, via cookies (see our Cookie Policy) 

 

Giving us this information is entirely voluntary — you're under no statutory or contractual obligation to provide it, though we won't be able to respond to your enquiry, or send you the newsletter, without it. We never collect financial, tax, or client account information through this website. 

How we use it, and our legal basis 

Purpose: Responding to your enquiry 

Legal basis: Steps taken at your request before a contract, or our legitimate interest in responding promptly to enquiries

Legal basis: Your consent, given when you sign up 

Purpose: Understanding how the site is used

We do not use your data for any automated decision-making or profiling. 

Who we share it with 

Squarespace (hosting and analytics), Google Analytics (analytics), Mailchimp (newsletter). These providers only process data for these stated purposes. 

International transfers 

Squarespace, Google, and Mailchimp are all based in the United States, and personal data may be processed there. These transfers are protected by Standard Contractual Clauses. 

How long we keep it 

  1. Contact form enquiries that don't become a client relationship: 12 months 

  2. Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe 

  3. Website analytics data: per Google Analytics' standard retention settings (currently 14 months). This is different from how long the analytics cookie sits on your device, see our Cookie Policy for that. 

Your rights 

Access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, data portability, and withdrawing consent at any time. 

Requesting your data 

Free of charge, at any time — contact us using the details above. We respond within one month, or up to three months for complex requests. 

How to complain 

If you believe we haven't handled your personal data in line with data protection law, you have the right to complain to us directly — by email, phone, or post, using the details above. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, investigate without undue delay, and let you know the outcome, including your right to refer the matter to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you remain unsatisfied.
